A Weekend with Grandma and Papa!

This past weekend, Patrick got to meet the rest of his grandparents!  Grandma and Papa flew out from Boston for 4 days to spend some time with grandchild #5 (3rd boy).  After I picked them up from the airport, they wasted no time settling in for some snuggle time with Patrick, and Patrick wasted no time demonstrating his "Feed Me!" cry for Papa.

On Friday, the 6 of us ventured out for a fun afternoon in Woodside.  After a delicious lunch at Woodside Deli (highly recommended!), we dropped the grandparents off for a tour of the estate and gardens at Filoli while Marcia and I headed to the Doctor's with Patrick for a quick check-up.

My parents hadn't been out in California for a while, so on Saturday we went for a tour of the Facebook Campus in Menlo Park.  We checked out my team's building, a bunch of the cafes, and snapped a standard picture out at the big Like sign at the main entrance.  It was a weekend, so it was pretty quiet, but it was still a fun tour.  Later that day, we got dinner from The Refuge in San Carlos.  Patrick was disappointed he couldn't have any pastrami, but he seemed pretty satisfied with his milk anyway.

The next day we were a little more adventurous and took Patrick on his first trip to San Francisco!  After watching the USA vs Portugal World Cup soccer game, Patrick hung out with Mommy and "Uncle Tido" while I headed out to dinner at House of Prime Rib with my parents and Grandma Pam.  Dinner was great and we had a fun time.  After dinner, the grandmothers headed to a jazz show, and I took my Dad on a driving tour of San Francisco.  We saw Coit Tower, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf, the Presido, the Golden Gate Bridge, Crissy Field, and Baker Beach before heading back.

On the last day of Grandma and Papa's visit, we took Patrick to see the Pacific Ocean for the first time!  We drove out to Half Moon Bay and parked near the Ritz, then walked along the coastal trail for a bit before heading down to the beach.  This time I carried Patrick in his Beco Gemini carrier which he really seemed to enjoy - he slept most of the time and was very well behaved.   At the beach, we also got a chance to use the picnic blanket that Patrick and Mommy got me for a father's day present.  After a photo shoot on the beach, we packed up and headed home.

One their last night here, I put my parents to work making dinner.  They fired up the grill and cooked some yummy hamburgers and corn-on-the-cob.  It was a nice relaxing ending to a wonderful visit.  Patrick really enjoyed meeting his grandparents and looks forward to seeing them again soon!
